Introduction During the spring semester of English 101 I refreshed my writing
skills and learned many new ones. The skill that I’m most proud of taking
with me into English 102 is planning and outlining of essays. In the past, I would revise and outline an
essay after I had already written it.
Throughout my practice in the 2004 spring semester, I learned how to
plan, organize, and outline my essays better before I even wrote them, which
made the revision process shorter in the end.
Also throughout the semester we as a class participated in many
peer-editing assignments. While doing
these assignments I became more proficient in using my critical thinking
skills to analyze and evaluate other students writing. This also helped me analyze my own essays
for proper grammar and content, by looking for mistakes in other students
writing, I also became better noticing mistakes in my own essays also. During the semester we also were required to research, organize
and write an eight-page research paper using the topic the teacher provided
“What is good writing?” After the
rough drafts of our papers were completed, we again used peer editing to
review each other’s essays for proper content, focus, grammar, coherence and
MLA documentation. |
