Introduction
(please read below) Thank you for the time in viewing my portfolio. I think of it as
my stamp collection. A good stamp collector has stamps from wide time ranges and
regions. Likewise, this portfolio contains all of my works in English 101,
since the beginning to the last days. I have also noticed that some people
aren’t as involved in stamp collecting as others. I noticed something similar
when more than half the class dropped out. These students probably weren’t
prepared academically or mentally for the challenges English 101 offers.
Hence, the portfolio you’re about to explore is special, since only a handful
got this far. Before you go about exploring, you should know why this website
was prepared and how it works. The primary reason this portfolio was created
is because our instructor assigned it. Besides that fact, the portfolio
proves to be an assessment of individual student progress. Every student site
shows how that person has improved their writing skills. The setup of this site is simple. The ten numbered outcomes lead
to ten different Outcome pages. Each page is headed by its principal outcome,
like “Student learns to write clear prose.” Below this is a reflection on how
each student has accomplished the outcome. At the bottom of the Outcome page,
there is a link to the Artifact page. This page gives you a taste of the
student’s achievement. Near the top you will find a link to a student document,
which is the artifact. Below the link, there are two sections that describe
how the artifact was produced and how it demonstrates student competency. As the producer of this portfolio I encourage you to open up all
of the outcomes and artifacts. This way you’ll obtain a richer view of how
English 101 has helped me. You will see many feats (like writing an
eight-page report) and defeats I have encountered. Open at your own risk*! *The risk of becoming more enlightened in English 101. |
